Rewards And Retail

Saturday, Jan. 13th

(Winnipeg day #4 recap)

The art store we stopped at first, had a multitude of pretty, sparkly papers πŸ˜βœ¨πŸ’•

I had no use for them and that was a little sad but I enjoyed the few moments of iridescent splendour, while there πŸ˜‰

We sat down for lunch at the same restaurant we’d eaten at the first day, Saucers Cafe.

I wasn’t feeling all that wonderful, so a hot bowl of broccoli cheddar soup, sounded just right 🍡

We ate there, so that we’d be ready for the opening of Jenna Rae CakesΒ come noon, as I wanted to make one last stop while I could πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ’• Continue reading “Rewards And Retail”

Made In Canada

Monday Oct 23rd –

It was the husbands first day on the new job 😎

After interviews and paperwork, hisΒ trial of working for Kraft had begun.

I went to our house and got the almost completely finished upstairs, cleaned out, so that some unpacking could slowly begin.

It felt SO good to have even a small space of the house clean enough to walk around in with no shoes on and your hands not feeling grimyΒ πŸ˜œπŸ‘ŒπŸ»

I had arranged a special meal for Mike that night, in honour of his job and all the work on the house which he has done so far.

A Canadian replication of a Dutch meal.

I had made ‘nasi balls’ the week before and froze them in preparation for that day.

The outcome wasn’t bad but not as close as I would have liked for the amount of work they were to create either 😜

Applesauce, mayo and curry ketchup were the dipping sauces put out along side fries Dad had picked up in town.

We re deep-fried them, to try to get that extra outer crunch that is needed when consuming fries… it worked😏

Chicken fingers and Caesar salad were also prepared in case there were those who wouldn’t be satisfied with just nasi balls and fries πŸ˜‰

But that wasn’t all, Dad had also picked up soft serve ice cream, which I then served in cones with ‘disco dip’ sprinkles for dessert.

They were spot on to how the Dutch snack bar ice cream tastes, so I was thrilled about that πŸ˜‰

All in all, for being a ‘fake’ Dutch meal, it was a pretty good mimicry if I do say so myself πŸ˜‰

Mike was pleased.

Tuesday Oct 24th –

A morning like most.

β˜•οΈπŸ“²πŸ“πŸ›‹

Catching up on the writing I was getting behind on, laundry, more house things packed away, more house things looked at online, supper preparations etc.

Leftover ham had been turned into chowder and was served with cheese bread ☺️

Why don’t men like soup more?!

On a dull, fall day, when warmth and comfort food is the obvious answer, why is soup still just ‘tolerated’?

That’s how it is with my dude at least πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ™„

The Cold, The Heat, The GuiltΒ

Tuesday Sept 4th-

Morning brought with it an omelette (which I flipped, in the pan, without making a mess and using just a flick of the wrist πŸ’πŸ») post workout and then much blogging, trying to get some recipes proof read by the mother, before I leave for a couple of weeks.

(She reads everything before I post it usually. Fixing confusing things and adding comas where my brain didn’t think to so I am sorry if these posts make less sense then normal πŸ˜œ)

I’d went through my assortment of clothing a few days back, trying to let go of the few things that I’ve hung on too, in hopes of them eventually working out and then never using them anyways πŸ˜

Moms turn to do the same thing, came that morning and I was her audience/judge.

Saying yes or no…or simply making the appropriate faces to show my emotion towards certain pieces, was enough of an answer πŸ˜‹

Lunch was a tasty beef barely soup, one of my favourites πŸ˜„

Though I am not looking forward to winter at all… the fall comfort foods are calling πŸ˜¬πŸ˜‹

The sis and littles came over for a visit and while we did that, Hubster and Mom gave me a pedi πŸ˜‹πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

(Mom did the scrubbing/rubbing and Mike did the french tip painting πŸ™ˆ)

Mom did her best to do my fingernails but with bad lighting and her wearing glasses now… her best…had seen better days πŸ˜πŸ€“

The packing had to begin eventually, though I did push it back until the evening.

Sputtering Nothing πŸ’¦

Tuesday Nov 15 th –

The day we forgot the water was being turned off 😬
There were notices posted around the building stating that on Tuesday, there would be no water and we took note and talked about it many times!

Only to wake up on Tuesday and go to run the water and be greeted by a sputtering nothing…

And we were out of coffee beans, so not the best morning around 😏

I heated up some milk and we had chia latte mix with some instant coffee for some sort of caffeine intake and I then settled in to write/edit pictures.

The water actually came back on around 2:00, though hot water didn’t follow until later but it was enough to feel like I could do a few things.

Like bake a lazy cheesecake 😁

You see, I don’t have a ton of dishes, so when I bake, a dish or two probably has to get rewashed and reused a few times during the baking process, thus needing water to bake.

The cheesecake turned out nicer then usual actually, the sugar and cinnamon topping becoming an even golden color over the entire thingπŸ‘ŒπŸ»

I love this super easy cheesecake, (recipe will follow πŸ˜‰) though it’s a bit on the sweet side so coffee would have been delicious with it πŸ˜•

My First Pomelo And A Vase Of Yellow (ish)

Sunday Oct 30th –

Last Sunday we woke up too late, this Sunday it was too early πŸ™„

Our neighbour below enjoys his music played loudly and at 6:30 am it was frustrating Mike so he got up and ready to go knock on their door but then decided not to.
Him getting up, woke me up… a whole hour to early 😳😠

The new coffee beans got tested and they were a whole lot better than the others, but not as good as the ones before πŸ˜•
I think this ‘finding new beans’ will be a long process β˜•οΈ

We left and I got to hold cupcakes for the hour long drive πŸ˜‹
