Aντίο Greece!

Saturday Oct 9th –

We took a taxi from the hotel to the airport around 9:00 am and prepared for our farewell to Greece.

One last cheese pie was eaten while we waited and some feta purchased just in case it wasn’t as easy to find once we were back in Holland.

Greece will be missedπŸ’™
We had a fantastic time, lovely weather, delicious food and beautiful scenery and friendly people.
It was for sure one of the higher ranked places I’ve been… in my humble, non relevant opinionπŸ˜‰

Our journey around the island can be seen in black πŸ—Ί ✍🏻

And a random mention here since I forgot to mention/show it earlier, places in Greece had the cutest receipts πŸ˜„πŸ’•

Our flight left and three hours and a time change later we got back into Amsterdam around 1:00 pm, shuttled to the car, drove through McDonald’s and drove back to Doesburg where we had no time to rest and recuperate as a baby shower had to be gone to!

We literally dropped our bags, showered, changed, got ready, repacked, wrapped the gift and hit the road for another hour-long drive to Germany.

πŸ‘ΆπŸΌπŸΌ It was the baby shower for our soon to arrive, newest niece or nephew and it was set up by a sister from church.
She did a lovely job and the food was deliciousπŸ˜‰

Cause that’s what matters at a baby shower right? πŸ˜‹

My evening was spent there and Mikes was spent with the men whose wives were at the baby shower also.
He was playing tennis, eating and enjoying his 6 hours of freedom I assume 😏

He and I then spent the night at Judith’s 😊

Sunday Oct 9th –

The 1st anniversary of Michiel and my wedding πŸ˜πŸ’•πŸ’πŸŽ‚

How can one year go by so quickly ??

I told Mike we should add up the days we were traveling to see how much of the year really counted as ‘real life’ 😏

We had breakfast with Judith and the family and then headed off to church.

It’s for sure taken a chillier turn now weather wise and I’m glad I’ll be getting my warmer clothes unpacked soon 😁

Our anniversary may have been spent with others and not really romantic but considering we just got back from Greece annnnnd got to eat my favourite pasta at Vapianos, it was alright πŸ˜πŸ˜‹πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Though I’m pretty disappointed in Vapianos… they cut the portion sizes down, who even does that! πŸ™„πŸ™πŸ»

We went back to Judith’s to spend the rest of the afternoon, chatting, lounging and eventually munching on some tasty waffles she whipped up 😊

Frozen Waffles And Fall Fare

Sunday Sept 25th –

Breakfast was cheap, frozen waffles Mike had wanted to get from IKEA the night before.
They may be sad and pathetic, but we both can’t actually say that we dislike them πŸ™ˆ

We went to church with John and Inge, Mike getting a break from driving, but not a break from translating.
I wasn’t the only person in church who needed an English translation for once so it was a big day for Mike πŸ˜‰

After church we were starving, (as usual) so a quick walk to the snack bar was taken with others who were equally in need of food and once there, fries and other snacks were quickly eaten before John and Inge picked us up.

A nap was happily taken once we got back to the house 😴

Inge made us all supper and later on Mike made himself more chocolate pretzels, I made myself popcorn and we watched a Grandchester together before calling it a night πŸ«πŸΏπŸ’‘

Monday Sept 26th –

As I was still getting the odd headache from the car incident, I made some coffee to help battle the pain πŸ˜‹β˜•οΈ

I then settled in to work on the blog.
A title was proving stupidly hard, as is more often the story then not πŸ™„
And I can’t usually think of a title unless I’m glancing over the post reading what it’s about or looking for a key word I could utilize, so it’s a time consuming thing πŸ˜

I did actually convince myself to do something of physical value afterwords.
Exercise πŸ˜‘

Once that calamity was finished up with, I wanted to start making the soup that was intended to be supper.
I’d seen a new recipe on Pinterest for a ‘roasted, sweet potato soup’, perfect for fall 😏

It was a bit more time consuming then I like for making soup, as the veggies needed peeling, chopping, roasting and then blending.
All in all, it was fine but I won’t be making it often.

Thankfully John and Inge liked it, or they were just being politeπŸ˜‰
But Mike and I prefer a bit more meat and our favourite part was easily the cheesy garlic bread😏

I think it would be tastiest as an appetizer where it can be eaten in a small portion with lots of the (called for) sour cream and bacon bits (which I added to the recipe).
