Thanks-versary

Monday Oct 9th –

Happy thanksgiving-anniversary! πŸ˜πŸ’•πŸ΄

Really, perfect timing because when else would you get turkey, stuffing, roasted veggies, buns, steak, scalloped potatoes, gravy and cranberry sauce, for a two year anniversary meal?? πŸ’πŸ»

And that isn’t even counting the desserts 😏

Mom put out a splendid spread and our guests/pretty much second family, arrived to enjoy it with us, just past noon ☺️

We sat down and stuffed ourselves.

It was delicious and I know MY gut protested, all while my eyes took over filling my plate for the second time πŸ™ˆ

Michiel and I were gifted with our first, potted houseplant and the fuchsia petals and pink veined leaves will be happily displayed come move in time πŸ˜‰πŸ’•

I don’t have a picture, as it is already in our kitchen πŸ˜‰πŸŒΏ

After the meal had settled a little, us ladies walked the 5 km to our house to get some fresh air and in doing so, hopefully free up some room for dessert and coffee 😜

The guys came later on, via vehicle of course, and a tour of our ‘home to be’ was held ☺️

Giving an actual place and space for them to picture during any future home decor/renovation discussions πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Back to the other house we went and some scrumptious treats were served up.

Pumpkin square with praline sauce and a plain cheesecake with a thin layer of lemon curd on top.

The graham crust of my cheesecake was a total flop but as for the rest, I was really pleased with the outcome ☺️

The recipe can be found at  ‘A Bountiful Kitchen’, I just suggest less crumbs and more butter for the crust β˜ΊοΈπŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ‹πŸ’•

Our afternoon/evening, faded together into one enjoyed day with friends like family… what better way to spend a thanksgiving day? β˜ΊοΈπŸ’•

Tuesday Oct 10th –

I began my morning one of the very best ways I know how (besides sleeping that is) and that was with freshly brewed coffee and a piece of boterkoek (an almond butter cake) made for us by one of the previous day’s guestπŸ˜‰πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ’•πŸ’•β˜•οΈ

Then it was time to search the web for home items.

Mike is wanting to move asap all of a sudden and he’s been working hard towards doing just that, so I must be as prepared as possible for when that day comes.

By looking for bar stools (?) 😜

I am keeping the ones pictured above ^ in mind, incase the stores around here don’t prove fruitful.

Then to the basement, where the boxes of memorabilia had to be sorted through yet again, as I couldn’t justify moving more boxes of paper then we have to, come actual moving time.

Why does Jessica keep sooo many drawings and birthday cards?? πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

I managed to get rid of a heaping garbage bag full and that felt good πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Until the rest of the boxes came out of the one, small room and took most of that good feeling away 😜

Let’s just say, I don’t think our place is going to feel all that ’empty’, post move in πŸ˜¬πŸ™ˆ

The bro’s family came over to have leftover turkey for supper with us and then a few plans were made for the mother and I’s trip to the city the next day.

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊
