Identifying Sounds And Scents

Saturday Dec 16th –

I arose early.
I don’t know if it’s our rooms window, the new house, the knowing there are kittens about or the endless amount of small things to be finished but I can’t seem to sleep in here, at all… hopefully that changes 😒

After a relaxing coffee, I went down to clean up the brilliant red sofa that had caused such excitement this summer.
Buyers were coming to look at it and I was torn between hope of them wanting it and sadness at loosing such an awesome piece 😃💔😭

They came, they left with a new/old couch.
My wallet was happier and my house more spacious so the pain was minimized and they loved it so it was fun to see someone else be happy about it too 😊

Mike went to work cleaning out the basement.
All of the reno dust and debris having come to rest on the rafters and amidst the open insulation and needing to be gone, if that’s where laundry and what not will be 😬

Mom and Dad came over and Mom helped me organize the pantry with some shelving she no longer needed, as I required some kind of method for the madness until Mike has the time to concoct something more permanent 🙂

I made us all a snack of toasted bread with a basil pesto spread, tomatoes, mozza and balsamic vinegar.

Mike finished up in the basement just before some friends stopped by for a visit.
The house tour was given, details repeated, processes retold and then a sit down with coffees and cookies enjoyed 😉☕️

As we tried to fall asleep, the cats escaped their nightly basement confines and came to cuddle… and not just once 🙄
Mike tried to jimmy the cardboard door set up but it took a couple more soundtracks of little paws coming up to our bedroom, until it held securely and sleep could be found 😏

Sunday Dec 17th –

Mike made us breakfast yet again, cheesy omelettes and bacon this time ☺️🥓🍳
This, after Tripp escaped early that morning and woke us of course 😏

We found out for the second time, that our fire alarms do indeed work 😏
Perhaps a little too well, as it’s been normal, non burnt baking and cooking that has set the shrill things ringing, me plugging my ears and the kittens taking off in panic 😬

So we left with for church probably smelling strongly of bacon.
There could be worse smells yes, but I still hate to think that people would know precisely what we ate for breakfast just by our scent 😂

At church there were some trip reports given.
A brother from church and our pastor, told some memorable moments and highlights of their recent trips to Zimbabwe and Belarus.
Strongly suggesting of how good we all truly have it.
No worry of when we can find food next or have clothes to wear.
No thought if we should maybe not buy a certain thing at the grocery store because we only have $150-200 a month to live off of, in a place where gas and some food, is priced the same as it is in Canada.

Taking so much for granted all of the time.

It makes a person think how truly blessed we are… hopefully for longer than just that Sunday mornings service 💕

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊
