A Non Computing Culinary Council

Tuesday June 13th –

An utterly pointless day πŸ™„

Mom was heading into town for a short stint, so I decided it would be a good time to go along and do some Internet things/phone updates at the library, since our internet is awful out in the country.

After sitting there for a few minutes, the realization of non working wifi was evident.

I questioned the staff and they looked at me and said, ‘oh, it must not be fixed yet’ πŸ™„
Ok, thanks…
I was stuck there until Mother was done with her appointments so I went to half heartedly, look through the books.

Not planning on checking any out, as all of our library cards have extortionate fines on them because the fees went up.

Meaning that since we live out of town and tend to be a day or two late, the 15 items are probably 15 dollars or more just like that πŸ™„
So, it’s been literally years since we’ve willingly checked out books, never wanting to pay our cards off πŸ˜‚

Anyways, as I looked at books the lady who’d informed me that wifi was broken, said their tech guy wanted to talk to me.
He proceeded to tell me I just had to hit ‘accept’ and then it would work πŸ™„
I kindly told him I’d done that, I’d restarted my phone and laptop, reconnected etc.
Then he tried connecting with his phone and ‘Oh, yep, it’s not working for me either, I guess it’s still broken…’

Thank you 😬

I know they can’t help that it wasn’t working but it is a place publicly known for having a free, wireless connection… a sign may have been nice, pre the three-hour drop off 😜

Then I decided to ask for help to find a book, since their search computer wasn’t working either…
I stood patiently awaiting my turn and then after being totally ignored, I gave up and sat in a corner chair, flipping through home decor magazines and waiting for Mom to pick me up.

Don’t get me wrong, I love being back home with all of my being but I do see how some would question Mikes moving to this, slightly backwoods at time, community 😜

(Update: He is adjusting well and doing much bushmen work, getting calluses and majorly brown from outdoor labour…and excelling at itπŸ˜‰)

Back at home, perogy pizzas were quickly prepared and hungrily devoured.

The sister and her mini people came over as we felt like we hadn’t seen anybody for so long after the other sister had flew back to her place.

Uncle tried to install some soccer interest in Spencer… it didn’t really work but he’s got time to grow into it πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‹

Wednesday June 14th –

Mumsie made up some tasty scrambled eggs with cheese and my breakfast was served

I added some basil pesto sauce from Costco to my toast, as it wasn’t homemade bread and I have a hard time eating bread that’s not homemade, so I give it all the help it can get 😜

During my morning, all too much time was spent on the computer, trying to do computery things and getting no where fast.

( I see a theme here … πŸ™„)

While I did that, Mom baked and baked and baked.
Some things for our bellies and some for the church camp that begins at the end of this month, near where we live.

I got to test the odd thing and I still wonder if I should have become a food connoisseur; an expert judge in matters of taste.

I sketched some ideas out that had been floating about in my head, not hating the outcome at all, but then being afraid to add color and pushing it off till the next day πŸ˜‹

Supper was really tasty ☺️
Mom made some ‘thanksgiving’ panini’s.
Chicken, gravy, cranberry sauce, stuffing and cheese, toasty warm inside of a grilled wrap πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

A pre assembled salad was tossed together to go with and I would recommend the ‘Asian Cashew’ salad as a tasty, easy side, minus the cilantroπŸ˜‰πŸ₯—

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊
